There was a mini tornado/typhoon/hurricane that actually happened in my school. I'm seriously regretting not being there to see it. But its like how often do you actually see a tornado/typhoon/hurricane? Ish myself for not seeing it!
Anyway i'm still confused about wether its a hurricane/tornado/typhoon. So i'm actually gonna spend my beautiful time checking up on it.
Science ReportAim: To find out what wether the 'thingy' that happened in my school was a typhoon, tornado, or a hurricane.
Definition
Typhoon: –noun
1.a tropical cyclone or hurricane of the western Pacific area and the China seas.
2.a violent storm or tempest of India.
3.a (initial capital letter) Military.
a single-engine British ground attack aircraft of World War II.
b.NATO's name for a class of nuclear-powered Soviet ballistic missile submarine carrying 20 multiwarhead missiles.
Comments: Great! Now i have to find what cyclone means! And various other words such as tempest, ballistic, multiwarhead(?!? sounds like some military guy with multiple heads).
tempest:–noun
1.a violent windstorm, esp. one with rain, hail, or snow.
2.a violent commotion, disturbance, or tumult.
*i don't think the one that happened in my school was actually a tempest seeing that it didn't rain nor drop hail and most of all SNOW!
Cyclone:-noun
1. (meteorology) rapid inward circulation of air masses about a low-pressure center; circling counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the southern
2. a violent rotating windstorm
Comments: Hah! Now i just have to find out wether PJ is in the Northern or the Southern. Great work, dictionary.com!
Tornado:
n. pl. tor·na·does or tor·na·dos
A rotating column of air ranging in width from a few yards to more than a mile and whirling at destructively high speeds, usually accompanied by a funnel-shaped downward extension of a cumulonimbus cloud.
A violent thunderstorm in western Africa or nearby Atlantic waters.
A whirlwind or hurricane.
Comments: They actually said that tornados happen in western Africa or near Atlantic Waters. Another source says it happens in the middle west. Where is the middle west....*updated* Crapfoot! Middle west actually means somewhere in the middle west of the USA. Crappo!
Hurricane:-n.
-A severe tropical cyclone originating in the equatorial regions of the Atlantic Ocean or Caribbean Sea or eastern regions of the Pacific Ocean, traveling north, northwest, or northeast from its point of origin, and usually involving heavy rains.
-A wind with a speed greater than 74 miles (119 kilometers) per hour, according to the Beaufort scale.
-Something resembling a hurricane in force or speed.
Comments: Eastern regions... that should be ->> that side of the world. So its like Our part there lah! Involving heavy rains... Hasn't rain yet! But maybe it'll rain later. resembling a hurricane...Still confused about the resemblance of anything to anything.
Conclusion 1: I need a map. The fact that my sense of direction is 100% crappy.
Conclusion 2:(after actually getting a map) So its not a tornado! Tornados are funnel shaped and it happens nearby the Altlantic waters and western Africa and moves godammit fast! So sure its not that cause if it was I think everyone on the field just now would be swept away.(including Puan Phay. Crap!)
Conclusion 3: I don't think its a Hurricane of any sort cause it moves 119 kilometers per hour. Wait. is our school as big as 119 km's? Again Confusion strikes my tiny pea brain.
Conclusion 4: So I'd think its most probably a cyclone. Why? 1) cause theres no other freaking choice. 2) Someone said it was one so i assumed... 3) Urh..
